t would be surprising to know but one of the sought rap singers of country DA 69 -- Sudin Pokharel -- used to have interest in classical songs! In his school and college days he was very active and showed utmost keen to take part in cultural programs. Ultimately, his interest diverted from classical to hearing rap and hip hop songs.

He opines, "I used to idolize Bollywood singer Baba Segal. The main reason why I decided to sing rap numbers is because without any fear I can deliver my message and my opinion regarding any topic under the sky."

DA 69 got actively involved in the music scenario of Nepal since 1997. He learned classical music for two years from Omi Kala Kendra, Putalisadak. It was then that he met another popular singer of now -- Sugam Pokharel. Together, they formed a band 'Spokes' and after recording almost three songs they got disbanded! For this, DA 69 gives out his reason. "We went our own separate ways not because we had quarreled over some matter. It was because I was too busy with my studies. Nevertheless Sugam continued his focus in music!"

They might have gone their own ways but DA 69 still carried the passion for music and his love for it didn't die. Soon after, he met Girish Kathiwada from the then most popular rap band in the country -- 'GP'. It was them -- Girish and Pranil -- who gave a first musical break to DA 69 by featuring him in their song "Ma Yesto Chu..". "It was only after this that to establish my own identity in the music scenario of Nepal I decided to call myself DA 69." informs the artist.

When Pranil L Timilsena offered him to do rap in his song "Akha Bhari", DA 69 had but no objection to that. The result of which is, he became more recognized and popular. Not forgetting of course, he was able to earn name and fame and he had numerous fans to be proud of.

The song "She is the bomb" from DA 69's earlier band 'Girish And The Unity' is appreciated by many and the album was also able to do well in the market. "Chyangba Oi Chyangba" was able to create even more hype and attention for him.

With Girish now in America, DA 69 is all set to release his new album 'Byakaran Rap' along with Adray with their band name titled as 'The Unity'. The album will comprise of love songs, satirical songs and pure hip-hop numbers. He says, "I have even thought to sing melody number in this album!"

As for now, he is busy doing shows. Till date he has done over 100 stage shows in Kathmandu and outside Kathmandu, with which he has been able to show and prove his talent and skill in music. Besides being a singer DA 69 by profession is a television reporter. Since four years, he has been producing and anchoring sports news in Kantipur Television. "I am a singer and I am a news reporter and I want to grow and excel in both the fields. At the same time it is difficult to be good in both of my work but I believe it is not impossible!" vouches DA 69
