Profile

Ever since his childhood, Ram Chandra Kafle had a keen interest in music and singing. His elder brother used to sing as well and no wonder, it had a huge impact on his life. While in class one, he gave his first stage performance. Remembering the good old days, he informs, "I was called on stage to sing because my teachers used to feel that as my brother could sing well, I could too."

Ram Chandra Kafle has been able to create his own identity in the Music Industry of Nepal. He received his School Leaving Certificate in 1995. Soon after that, he came to Kathmandu to study music. He did his IFA in music from Fine Art College and after this received six years training in classical music from Gandharva Sangeet Pathsala. In 2002, Kafle took out his first song "Hitai Ko Maya", which is a Nepali "bhangra" track. With time, he started singing for other musicians. The first song, which he sang for another musician is "Sundar Cha Nepal", which is a lok dohari track.

There used to be a time, when lok dohari was ruling the Music charts. It was then that popular lyricist -- Ramesh Adhikari -- gave Kafle an opportunity to sing a lok dohari song. And since then, there has been no looking back. He became popular with lok dohari's like "Manki Rani" and "Lathi Charge"

Last year, Kafle released his first solo album 'Gam Besi' and this particular album made a decent impact among listeners as well as major FM stations. He is of the opinion that he could have done much better. As for his plans to release his second album he shares, "I am working on it! I have already started writing songs and composing music. On it, I am trying to incorporate songs which I hope would be liked by people of all ages."

Till date, Kafle has given his voice to more than five hundred songs. Be it in lok dohari, modern, pop or in movies he has been appreciated for his efforts and, hence, his popularity. He has done shows in Qatar and Mumbai...not to mention...many places in Nepal. He has been able to prove that he is a versatile singer. At present, besides being occupied with his yet to-be-released album, Kafle is also busy composing music for other singers. Last but not the least he says, "I want to do something very different in the Nepali Music Industry and I am working very hard to achieve that. I am very confident that I will
